Personal Information
- We collect your personal information through data provided to us from credit grantors and other institutions with whom you have dealings, and who are responsible for obtaining your consent in order to provide your information to us.
- We also may collect your personal information from other sources permitted by law, including from credit reports, data enrichment services, and public records, and from you if you have direct dealings with us.
- Our files may include: identifying information, including your SIN; contact information, account information, credit history; and public information.
Uses
- We facilitate consumer transactions by contacting you to seek repayment of outstanding accounts on behalf of credit grantors and other institutions, which may include banks, credit-card companies, finance companies and other institutions.
- We also provide other services to assist our clients commercially – examples of these services include credit adjudication services or eligibility for certain services and programs.
- We do NOT sell your data to third parties.

Our Approach to Privacy
C3 Canada conducts business in accordance with the principles defined by privacy legislation in Canada. The Personal Information and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) articulates ten fair information principles for the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information in Canada, as well as providing access to this personal information to consumers.
- Accountability for Personal Information
C3 Canada is responsible for the personal information it holds and has appointed a Privacy Officer to oversee the protection of that information. The contact information for the Privacy Officer is available to the public on the company website.
- Identifying Purposes for the Collection of Personal Information
C3 Canada will identify the purposes for which personal information is collected at or before the time the personal information is collected.
Personal information is collected from clients, consumers, and data enrichment sources to:
- ensure that financial information is disclosed only to the correct individuals.
- apply payments to the correct consumer accounts.
- report accurately to credit bureau reporting services
- update consumer contact information to maintain effective communication
- assess an individual’s ability to pay and determine the best course of action on outstanding accounts
We may ask a consumer to provide personal information to match it with our records and confirm their identity, prior to releasing information.
- Consent for the Collection, Use or Disclosure of Personal Information
C3 Canada will make a reasonable effort to ensure that individuals are advised of the purposes for which their information will be used.
In many cases, consent for using personal information was obtained from our clients at the beginning of the client-consumer relationship. The ongoing use of this information is a continuation of this existing contract and relationship. As a supplier to our clients, C3 Canada inherits this consent and is authorized to use personal information within the scope of our relationship with these clients. If we intended to use personal information in a new way that falls outside of the scope of these existing agreements, we would then seek express consent directly from the consumer before any use or disclosure.
- Limiting Collection of Personal Information
C3 Canada will collect personal information by fair and lawful means and will only collect information that is necessary to fulfill the identified purposes.
Personal information that used by C3 Canada may include:
- Name
- Date of birth
- Contact information (address, phone numbers, email addresses)
- Employment information
- Financial information
- Credit information
- Communication records
Personal information that is not required by C3 Canada will not be requested from consumers.
- Limiting Use, Disclosure and Retention of Personal Information
Unless the individual consents otherwise or it is required by law, personal information will only be used by C3 Canada for the purposes for which it was collected. Personal information will not be willfully disclosed to unauthorized third parties. Personal information will only be kept as long as required to serve those purposes.
C3 Canada only uses personal information in its capacity as a supplier to our clients.
C3 Canada does not disclose personal information to unauthorized third parties. We do not sell personal information to third parties. We may be required to disclose information to comply with a valid search warrant, court order, or other legitimate requests, including those from regulatory bodies overseeing our compliance with applicable laws. We may share limited information with suppliers and agents as necessary. For example, we provide information to credit bureaus to update consumer credit files accurately. We may also share minimal information with a supplier to generate written correspondence. These suppliers may also, in turn, disclose this information in response to valid requests from governments, regulators, or courts.
C3 Canada maintains organizational policies that govern the retention of personal information, establishing rules and limits for its maximum retention period. Additionally, we have policies for the secure destruction of all personal information once these retention periods have been reached.
- Accuracy of Personal Information
C3 Canada will keep personal information as accurate, complete and up-to-date as possible in order to property satisfy the purposes for which it is to be used.
C3 Canada employees are trained to inform customers about the importance of keeping their contact information current and to keep us informed of any changes in this information. Our organization also uses data enrichment services to update contact information.
- Safeguards to Protect Personal Information
Personal information is protected by appropriate security relative to the sensitivity of the information. C3 Canada has electronic and physical safeguards in place to protect personal information from loss, theft, unauthorized access, disclosure, copy or use.
We take the protection of personal information seriously. C3 Canada has established a security program aligned with industry best practices. We have implemented procedures to ensure the secure storage of personal information. C3 Canada employs firewall technology to shield its data from potential intruders and have implemented further security measures, including password protection, encryption, antivirus software, and physical security protocols. Access to your personal information is limited to authorized employees and representatives and only to the extent necessary for them to perform their job functions.
- Openness in Regards to Our Personal Information Policies and Practices
C3 Canada makes detailed information about its policies and practices relating to the management of personal information publicly and readily available. We also make available the contact information of our Privacy Officer on our corporate website.
- Individual Access to Personal Information
Upon request, an individual will be informed of the existence, use, and disclosure of their personal information and will be given access to that information. An individual will be able to challenge the accuracy and completeness of the information and have it amended as appropriate.
In accordance with the requirement to safeguard personal information, individuals will be required to validate their identity to the satisfaction of C3 Canada prior to the disclosure of personal information to that individual.
There may be certain circumstances where we cannot fulfill a request for information. For example, if records include information about other individuals, are protected by legal privilege, contain confidential information belonging to C3 Canada or our clients, or cannot be disclosed for other legal reasons.
